- Being called Mrs. My-Husband’s-Last-Name (bonus points for the teacher that asked me “But what should I tell the children??” about my last name being different than my son’s.)
- When children are taught to say “it’s okay” when someone apologizes for bad behavior (No it’s not okay that someone kicked you, don’t say it is.)
- Having to make the grown-up decisions, like canceling hotly anticipated plans because of a sickish kid
- Coming up with appropriate consequences, especially as the kids get older.
- Those rotten kids never stay the age I want them to stay.
